"Super trustworthy company! I enquired with Sunsave as my bills were quite high, wanting to size up additional solar and battery to help bring them down. Lachlan came around to do an assessment, but when he looked over my existing solar and battery system (6.6kW solar and 20kWh battery), he suspected something wasn't right based on my bill. He sat down with me, looked over the existing system, and found the exact issue — the previous installers hadn't programmed the settings correctly! Lachlan gave me a list of things to ask the other installers to fix. I came in expecting to be sold a whole new system, but instead he helped me fix my existing one. I offered to pay him for his time and help, but he wouldn't take anything — he just asked for a review. Based on my experience with Lachlan, he didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. Very ethical. I highly recommend Sunsave."
Solar & batteries · Victoria
Designed by someone who's actually installed them.
Sunsave is run by an installer, not a sales floor. We ask the detailed questions other companies skip and size your system to how you actually live — with estimates that hold up in a Victorian winter, not just January.
Where we stand
"He didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. Very ethical."
— Russell Larkins, in a Google review.
Russell rang us to buy a bigger system. What he actually needed was his existing one set up right — so that's what we sorted, and we wouldn't take payment for it.
That's the whole idea: we recommend what your bills actually need, not what's easiest to sell. Read Russell's full review, and eight more, below.
Why we exist
The solar industry has a trust problem. Fair enough.
Our founder installed systems for the companies that caused it — sold to anyone, oversized for margin, gone by the time something broke. Sunsave was built to be the opposite, on purpose.
What you've probably experienced
- Sells to anyone — doesn't care what happens after the install
- Inflated, absolute savings promises
- Salespeople who've never touched the hardware
- Emails a cheap number, never shows up in person
- Oversized systems and hidden costs
- Cheap gear that fails when the warranty matters most
How Sunsave works instead
- We ask a lot of detailed questions and design for your actual usage and goals
- Estimates that account for winter, not just summer
- Run by an installer who's wired these systems himself
- The owner turns up at your house, in person
- Proper sizing and transparent pricing — we only promise what we can deliver
- Hardware we'd put on our own roof, nothing else
How it works
Three steps.
A call with Zack
Zack gives you a ring and asks a bit more about your bills, your roof and what you're after — to make sure a system can genuinely work for you before Lachlan comes out.
A proper in-home consult
Lachlan comes to your home and takes his time — bills, roof, switchboard, options, questions. It's company policy that all homeowners are there for it: it's your decision, and it means everything gets covered once, properly, instead of second-hand later.
A design built for you
A tailored system with transparent pricing. If your existing setup just needs fixing, that's what we'll tell you instead.

What customers actually say
"We recently installed a solar battery with Sun Save, and the whole experience from sales to installation was very smooth. The team was very helpful, explained everything clearly, and the installer was very professional. Our home has limited roof space and some shading from trees, so our solar panel system is not very large. Before installing the battery, we could only reduce our electricity bill by around 35–40%, and the solar export was not enough to cover the daily supply charge. After installing the battery and switching to Globird Energy, the system works really well for our situation. Our latest electricity bill is actually $0, and we even received a credit on the account. We are now fully electric and no longer use gas, so we have no electricity bill and no gas bill at all, which is amazing. We can also use multiple appliances at night without worrying about electricity costs. Overall, we are very happy with Sun Save and would highly recommend them to anyone considering a solar battery system."
"I found Sunsave Co on Facebook from one of their ads, and I had someone ring me and organise Lachlan to come out. He was actually the owner of the business, and he came to my house, had a look at what's involved and explained how it works and the cost of the system. I chose to go with him to support a young Aussie business. A couple of weeks later the install was organised. It took about 4 hours and the installer's name was Germaine - he did a really good job. I had my electrician mate come out and he said it was bloody good work. Lachlan came out about a week later to my house and explained to me how the whole system worked now that it had been installed, and showed me the app. Overall very happy with Sunsave, would recommend to my friends and family."
"I highly recommend SunSave for your battery and solar installs. Lachlan was very thorough in explaining options. I made several enquiries and obtained quotes from 2 other providers, but I was super impressed with Lachlan's attention to detail and ability to find a solution that worked for me. Communication was excellent - installers turned up when they said they would and confirmed everything by phone and SMS. I was most surprised that the anticipated savings from the model have actually been realised and instead of a $120-150 per month electricity bill (before battery), I'm now getting a bill in credit of around $30-35 per month. Super impressed with the care, attention and follow up from SunSave."
"Lachlan at SunSave was amazing! Very informative , professional and he explained the whole process of the solar panel installation from start to finish. His crew were efficient, experienced and dependable. I cannot praise them enough for a job well done. I would highly recommend their work and the after sales service was beyond excellent. If only other trades could be this exceptional . I’m More than happy to provide a genuine reference if required."
"Sunsave have recently replaced our very old, small battery system with a 32 kWh battery and a 5 kW inverter. From the initial contact with Riley (sales) to the installation and final inspection the whole process went smoothly. Lachlan was involved in helping us make choices and was happy to do an on-site follow-up visit to explain a few technical issues. Our previous billing company reduced the feed in tariff (FIT) to zero so the financial benefit of solar panels was much diminished. We changed our billing company to Flowpower which has a ‘ happy hour ‘ where they take power back to the grid from our 32kWh battery between 5.30 - 7.30 PM and pay us for it. Lachlan set this up for us. Our most recent bill has a $78 FIT credit. Beautiful! We are happy to recommend Sunsave to anyone considering installing a solar battery system."
"I'm very happy to recommend SunSave Co. We left it late to get a battery installed before the gov rebate drops in May so I was scrambling. I was receiving quotes from multiple websites and companies with varying degrees of prices, promises and options. I saw SunSave Co on Instagram and thought I'd try them too. Lachlan from the ad was the person who arrived to do a site inspection and had great ideas and knowledge. He took the time to look at our bills, house dynamics and goals. He explained our options clearly and helped us make a plan that stood out against the other quotes. SunSave Co are a young and impressive group who I'm happy to support."
"Lachlan was great in outlining the actual requirements, how to maximise the system (Solar and battery) and was to his word on all discussions before during and after the install. Very happy with the system, the service the responsiveness. Have already recommended to other family members."
"I’ve had the pleasure of doing some PV & Battery installs with Sunsave . I have to say I’ve been impressed with the thorough attention to detail they have when doing the site plan and system design. Lachlans continued follow up after the install to help customers get the most out of their systems is something most retailing companies lack . They make the whole experience for the home owner very pleasant ."

Worth knowing
Three facts about solar most ads leave out
Winter output is real
Solar produces a lot less in a Victorian winter than in January. Any savings estimate that ignores that isn't an estimate — it's a brochure. Size for the whole year.
Standard solar turns off in a blackout
It's a safety requirement. If backup power matters to you, the system has to be designed for it from the start — battery, backup circuits, the lot. It's not an add-on sticker.
The battery rebate is tiered, not flat
Since May 2026 the federal discount is front-loaded onto the first ~14 kWh of usable capacity and tapers after that — so "30% off!" ads are quoting a number that no longer exists. The dollar figure depends on the battery.
On the tools
The bloke who designs your system is the one who's been on the roof
Lachlan's been in the solar industry for four years — first on the tools installing systems for other companies, now designing them. He's seen what's behind the switchboard when it's done cheap, and what it takes to do it properly.
